Technology Center is an endeavor in expanding the role of
the school system. The City of Delaware School District
created this center, opened in January 1999, as a conduit
for hands-on technology exploration. While currently the
center serves middle- school students, eventually it will
expand to accommodate grades K-12 and adults and local businesses.
The center has thirty-four technology and career exploration
stations. Subjects include: robotics, aerodynamics, video
production, biomedical technology and more. Some of the
hands-on equipment at the center includes: a desktop wind
tunnel, small robotics, hydraulic simulators and machining
equipment. The goal of the center is to get school-aged
children interested in technology and introduce them to
situations they would not experience in a traditional classroom.
Additionally, in the future, the Center’s goal is to be
used as a training site for businesses. This Dempsey Technology
Center is the first of its kind in Ohio. |
