SUNBURY-GALENA |
|
| Sunbury, Galena,
and the surrounding rural area--the Big Walnut Community--is one
of the fastest growing communities north of Columbus. Located only
a half an hour away from the center of Columbus, the towns are picturesque
and feature a mix of new and old buildings. Farming, light industry
and commercial enterprises employ many of the residents while others
commute to Columbus. |
| Education
is provided by Big Walnut Local Schools and is comprised of
five buildings, including a new high school. Numerous churches
offer a variety of religious opportunities. |
 |
|
| Community amenities
including a new community library facility, a public skating rink,
golf courses, Hoover Reservoir, and Alum Creek State Park provide
recreation for the entire family. Business in Sunbury is surprisingly
diverse, including a thriving antiques and crafts trade along with
a full range of retail establishments. |
 |
The
chamber of commerce, local booster and service groups
provide many annual community events for residents and
tourists. Visitors to the area enjoy the numerous antique
and craft shops surrounding the public squares. Memorial
Day, 4th of July and Labor Day Antique & Flea Markets
enliven treasure hunting in the area.
