Workforce Development

As the fastest growing county in Ohio, Delaware County’s population totaled 96,000 in 1997 – a 49% increase from 1987. Its county seat and largest city, Delaware, had a 1997 population level of 26,000. The demographic information of Delaware County in 1996 showed that the median age of its residents was 31 years, and the average per capita income was $28,289.

Despite this rapid population growth and attractive demographic numbers, the county continues to experience a low unemployment rate and a continuous need for a skilled workforce. In order to keep the Delaware County workforce competitive, training programs have become a priority. Various entities within the county, as well as the Ohio Department of Development, have created programs to assist in the development of workforce skills.
